She's worked for numerous top media organizations around the world. It was a long time working for The Washington Post covering football, basketball, multiple Olympics and Grand Slam Tennis. Nichols was a reporter for nine years during her period with ESPN in which she won the two Emmy Awards, and featured on a number of the network's best programs like NFL Countdown and SportsCenter. Nichols was employed by TNT as a broadcaster, reporting on NBA games, including playoffs, regular season and All Star television broadcasts. Alongside covering for TBS and TNT, she also reported on baseball and golf broadcasts and Final Four on CBS. This is the first time in the award's 42-year-old tradition that a woman has been nominated amongst the more than 200 nominations.
